Sentiment Analysis of K-Pop Concert News in Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Indonesia-South Korea Bilateral Relations

Abstract
The 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between the Republic of Indonesia (RI) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) was marked by a K-pop music concert in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze news coverage in the mass media regarding K-pop music concerts in the cities of Solo and Jakarta. The mass media are seen not only as a channel of information but also play an essential role in the implementation of RI-ROK public diplomacy. The research method uses sentiment analysis with the Naive Bayes algorithm. The results of the research analysis indicate that sentiment from online media coverage is predominantly positive. The results of the online media framing analysis revealed three main topics that were interpreted as conveying positive sentiment. First, online media coverage highlights the importance of ROK as a strategic partner, especially in the economic sector. Second, in the context of the 50th anniversary of RI-ROK diplomatic relations, the media plays a role in introducing the culture of the two countries. Third, the media also highlights the collaboration of artists in the K-pop concert, thus strengthening the message of the close friendship between the two countries. News that displays symbols of friendship produces positive sentiment. News coverage is not always politically nuanced, but it has shown cultural closeness in the public. In conclusion, this study examines the role of the media in creating positive narratives that facilitate the implementation of RI-ROK public diplomacy.
