Abstract

This study aims to explore how family planning extension workers in West Sulawesi utilize social media in their tasks, as well as their perceptions of their knowledge and confidence in using digital platforms. The study combines quantitative data from questionnaires and qualitative data from in-depth interviews to provide a comprehensive overview. A total of 202 family planning extension workers participated in the study. The findings show that the majority of extension workers are aged between 26 - 45 years, with a Bachelor's degree and 1 to 5 years of experience. Most of the extension workers (95%) are active on social media, particularly WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. The time spent on social media varies, with most spending 1 to 5 hours per week. The majority of respondents rated their knowledge of the family planning program as "Good" or "Very Good", and they also felt fairly "Confident" in delivering messages through social media. However, some felt "Moderately Confident", indicating a need for further skill development. Overall, social media has great potential to expand outreach, but attention to the accuracy of information shared is crucial.
