Abstract
Many sources of political information offer citizens, especially young voters, opportunities to express their
views and participate in politics. However, it is unclear whether these sources of information can encourage
participation. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital media on the political participation of young
voters, both online and offline. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method for data
collection from 597 student respondents from various universities in the Jabodetabek area selected by
convenience sampling technique. The data collected were analyzed using variant-based Structural Equation
Modeling. The results of this study indicate that digital media (including the Internet and social media) have a
positive and real effect on political knowledge and awareness, while information from political actors in digital
media has a direct effect on political knowledge. Political awareness and knowledge have a real and positive
effect on online participation, which in turn leads to offline participation. These results highlight the
importance of digital media for election organizers and political actors to collaborate and optimize their online
political information, thereby increasing young voter participation.
